Psychosocial Disability can include conditions such as Bipolar, Depressive disorder, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Schizophrenia and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Needs for people with psychosocial disability may be very different from people with other types of disability. First of all, these conditions may be episodic in nature. This means that you might have some good days and other not so good days.
Your plan needs to be prepared for those not so good days. This may look like extra supports being funded for the period that you may anticipate may not be having good days. You may need additional support workers or other kinds of supports around this time.
Also, supports may look different for you - you may like to access art, fitness or sensory related supports. Gardening, cooking and cleaning help can mean that you are able to get that little extra help with your routine to make sure that the not so good days are a little easier and less frequent.
This is why having a support coordinator who understands psychosocial disability will help you make the most out of your NDIS plan. Call today on 0409 634 945 today to have a further chat about what is happening for you and how we can help.
